Roy Lyford-Pike
Roy Lyford-Pike, Esq. immigrated from Uruguay at the age of six, but his family maintained close ties with their native country by returning yearly for the holidays. Before law school, Roy spent six months teaching English and History to primary and secondary school students in Montevideo, Uruguay.
Roy graduated from the University of Maryland Carey School of Law in 2015, where he was a member of the Executive Board of the Latino Law Student Association and a volunteer interpreter with the School’s Immigration Law Clinic. He has practiced employment law, primarily focusing on workers’ rights, ever since he graduated.
Roy is a litigation attorney with Zipin, Amster & Greenberg, LLC, based in downtown Silver Spring. The majority of his clients are Hispanic immigrants who have been victims of wage theft by their employers. By communicating with his clients in their native Spanish, Roy is able to help clients gain confidence in the judicial system and better understand their cases.
Roy is experienced in the full spectrum of employment law, including discrimination, harassment, severance agreements, non-compete agreements, family and medical leave, and more. He has tried cases to verdicts in front of juries in federal and state courts. His peers have elected to him to be a Super Lawyers “Rising Star” every year since 2018.
Roy has been a member of the MHBA since 2015 and a Board Member since 2018. Additionally, he is on the Board of Directors of the Interfaith Partnership for the Chesapeake and was the co-chair of the Employment Law Section of the Bar Association of Montgomery County for many years.
