Symposium and IMPACTO Award at the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law
On October 26, 2018, the Maryland Hispanic Bar Association was proud to co-sponsor the Symposium: In the Aftermath of Hurricane Maria: A year in the Life of Puerto Rico hosted by the Latinx Law Student Association at the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law. After the Symposium, the Chief Judge of the Supreme Court was honored with the IMPACTO Award. One of our Board members, Eduardo Garcia, served as the Master of Ceremonies for the IMPACTO Award. In conjunction with its participation at the event the Maryland Hispanic Bar Association provided the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law with a donation in order to fund a student who is interested in volunteering and providing legal help in Puerto Rico in the Summer of 2019. The student who is selected will receive the MHBA Fellowship from the law school, which is the first of its kind for our organization. The Maryland Hispanic Bar Association is proud to support these types of efforts and people who are actively making a difference in the Hispanic community.
