Bettina T. Guevara
Bettina T. Guevara is an associate at Miles & Stockbridge P.C, a firm comprised of over 200 lawyers with offices in Maryland and Virginia. Bettina has been with the firm ever since and practices in the areas of real estate and business law, where she represents financial institutions and other lenders, as well as real estate developers, in the areas of commercial and real estate finance. She also represents corporations and other business entities in their acquisition and financing of real estate projects and general business matters.
Ms. Guevara obtained her Juris Doctor from University of Maryland School of Law in Baltimore, Maryland. During law school, Ms. Guevara became the President of the Latino Law Students Association and the National President of the Law Student Division of the Hispanic National Bar Association. As the National President of the Law Student Division, Bettina traveled across the country and visited with Hispanic law students to discuss issues facing Hispanics in the legal profession today. Ms. Guevara was also a recipient of the University of Maryland School of Law’s Public Service Award and member of the Phi Delta Phi International Honors Fraternity.
Ms. Guevara is extensively involved in the community and many local and national organizations. Ms. Guevara was the recipient of the 2006 USHYEE Hispanic Hero Young Leader Award and an Award for Volunteer Services from the National Kidney Foundation for pro-bono work. In 2005, Bettina became a member of the Board of Directors of the Maryland Hispanic Bar Association and was one of the youngest persons elected President by the Maryland Hispanic Bar in 2006. As the President-Elect and President, Ms. Guevara spearheaded the launching and implementation of the first ever Maryland Hispanic Bar Mentorship Program. Most recently, Ms. Guevara was elected to be the Hispanic National Bar Association’s Regional President for Region X.
Ms. Guevara attended George Mason University, in Fairfax, Virginia, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts in International Affairs. Bettina was also a goal keeper in the Division I Women’s Lacrosse team, received a number of conference awards and became an All-American Lacrosse player her senior year.
Bettina Guevara was born in Lima, Peru and came to the United States at the age of 11, with her parents Luis and Teresa and siblings Fiorella, Luis and Josue. Bettina now lives in Silver Spring, Maryland with her husband, Michael Timms and daughter Adriana.
