Llamilet Gutierrez

Llamilet Gutierrez is the Executive Director of the Amara Legal Center, a nonprofit providing legal services for anyone harmed through their involvement in commercial sex. Ms. Gutierrez provides legal representation, connects survivors with vital social services, and raises public awareness of the legal issues facing clients. Her legal practice includes providing victim advocacy for clients, criminal defense, post conviction relief (expungements), family law representation, protective orders, and policy advocacy. Prior to her current role, Ms. Gutierrez was an attorney at the Office of the Public Defender in Prince George’s County, Maryland, where she ensured that her clients were seen as more than the criminal charges before the Court. In her first legal position after law school, Ms. Gutierrez was a law clerk for the Honorable Nicholas E. Rattal in the Circuit Court for Prince Geoge’s County.

In addition to her service to the Maryland Hispanic Bar Association, Ms. Gutierrez is the President-Elect for the Prince George’s County Bar Association where she serves on the Criminal Law and Young Lawyers’ Committees. Additionally, she is a Maryland State Bar Association Leadership Academy Committee member and former fellow, as well as a Maryland Bar Foundation Fellow.

Ms. Gutierrez coaches mock trial at DuVal High School and serves on the Ending Homelessness Ministry at her church campus, and sits on the Alumni Council of her alma mater, Dickinson College. Ms. Gutierrez holds a J.D. from Lewis & Clark Law School, and a B.A. from Dickinson College.
