Joseph L. Morales

Born in Bogotá, Colombia, Joe moved to Maryland in 1991. Two years later, he joined the United States Army and served with the 82nd Airborne Division in Fort Bragg, North Carolina, until 1996.  He then joined the Maryland Army National Guard and became a commissioned officer, serving as an Aeromedical Evacuation team leader and later as Commander of an Air Traffic Control unit.

Joe holds a bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County.  After graduation he joined the Biochemistry department of the Bloomberg School of Public Health at Johns Hopkins University.  In 2002, Joe was admitted to the University of Baltimore School of Law where he became Editor in Chief of the University of Baltimore Law Review, president of the Family Law Association and founder of the Hispanic Law Student Association.  He graduated from law school with honors in 2005 and clerked for the Honorable Dale R. Cathell at the Maryland Court of Appeals. He currently practices law at Whiteford, Taylor & Preston LLP, in Baltimore City.

Joe joined the MHBA while in law school.  As President-elect in 2007-2008, he chaired the Gala Committee. The following term, during his tenure as President, Joe also co-chaired the Judicial Nominations Committee.  He continues to co-chair that committee together with Pilar Nichols.
